RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has vowed to resist the “forces of tyranny,” even if it means dying in prison.
He made these comments during an informal discussion with journalists in Adiala Jail on Thursday.
He said, “I am being told how dare I stand up against the powerful? Let me be clear, I would rather die in prison than accept the tyranny of the current regime.”
Imran Khan believes the country is heading towards a revolution, saying that the February 8 silent revolution should have awakened the decision-makers. He criticised the irrational decisions being made and expressed his dismay at the imprisonment of his wife, Bushra Bibi, for seven months as a lesson to him.
Regarding the Balochistan issue, Imran Khan said that appointing puppets only worsened the situation. He supported the call for local body elections in Balochistan, criticising the mismanagement of funds and the lack of poverty alleviation. He argued that if PTI were not active in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the situation there would be as dire as in Balochistan.
Regarding terrorism, Imran Khan questioned the cause of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) if the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was allegedly a result of PTI’s policies. He highlighted the need for a three-dimensional approach to counterterrorism: intelligence, dialogue, and operations.
Talking about cricket, Imran Khan criticised the state of Pakistani cricket, noting that Mohsin Naqvi’s name was not published in any newspaper after the historic defeat. He expressed frustration over Bangladesh’s victory over Pakistan.
